becouse it is a sclass bike and a ktm dealer will want proof you have private land to use it on b4 they will sell you one which i find nuts but there you go.

you can buy one from the eu or just get a normal one and stick a dongle on it as it will be faster anyway ;)

a 2017 fox fork costs as much as the hole bike tho ;)
This pretty much is the perfect example of the difference between cheap and mega rd expensive

It ain't the electrics anymore that make the difference in high end gear

That 6k haibike- the price isn't on Bosch

And what do they do that cheap forks don't, yes finish may be better & more adjustable & the internal seals etc more durable but at the end of the day they just take the lumps out of the road as any suspension forks do.

I can see why a 600cc motorbike costs so much, have owned many bikes in my life & they are very high tech indeed but a 15 mph electric bike with a little electric motor & battery along with a few basic controls, I just don't get it.

The quality suspension components on FS MTB make all the difference and last. My Fox 34 forks have saved the day a couple of times on bad landings.

Are they worth the high prices especially for services kits No. Would I ride with a lesser fork no.

As for ebike drive systems, I suspect Bosch and like are making a nice profit. Until ebike market becomes mature/saturated don't expect large price drops.

The manufacturers should really be called assemblers because nearly all the components in their bikes are not manufactured by them.
That accounts for the higher input costs to them and ultimately, the higher cost to the products sold in the shop.
The assembly job that is so straightforward results in a very large number of models (consequently smaller runs), sizes and colours that only need small changes like handlebars, gearset, suspension to appeal to ever more sophisticated audiences, a bit like the wine market really.
Bikes sold in the shops have to be expensive enough to cover the cost of covering for warranty service, typically about 30% of the value of the bike.
After you remove the VAT, the dealers' margin, the transportation and packaging cost, the manufacturers don't make much profit on the sale but still a lot more than they make on a normal bike.
In my view, unless you want something special or you are on a very small budget, you can't beat a ready build.
