Hi Guys excuse my ignorance here, but what is the big deal about the 18 Ah batteries for Kalkhoff machines, what difference in real terms will 3 Ah make?

Thanks in Advance

The Ah (Ampere hours) is the capacity of the battery, in crude terms representing the range the e-bike is capable of. So in this given case the extra 3 Ah will extend the range by one fifth over the 15 Ah one.

If the two batteries are different makes and constructions or two different e-bikes are being compared, there may be little difference in practice with that capacity difference.

Not too sure about whether the effect is the same on a Kalkhoff, but for most other bikes, as well as longer range, you get higher speed and more climbing power because you get less voltage sag from a bigger battery. It can make 10% to 15% difference.
