What is this 2 pin red socket for?

So I have a front wheel hub kits 250w and a battery all working with the S861-LCD screen does everything fine except show the speed it is always on zero. I was not sure if this cable was for say a wheel magnet to make the speedo work (?) but it should work from the controller no?

Anyways. Again there are two cables left over one is for a throttle that works but has been disconnected due to UK ebike law. The other is this random 2pin red one that doesn't seem to do anything? And before you say brake levers they are both fitted with magnetic cutouts and are fine.

Anyways take a look your thoughts please. :)

Bike brake levers. Will cut the power to motor when you activate brakes
I have them already, what I mean is the two cables in the banana bunch pictured for the brake levers are in use and working. I added that as to not confuse the red cable pictured it is literally a spare plug and I do not know what it does? The only options I can think of is a light? Or a socket for a speed magnet for the wheel that plugs into the display/controller? Or? As my display speed reads 0 Zero no matter what I do yet the PAS buttons etc all work I wondered if that was for a speedo magnet I should attach to a wheel I never was sent?

I have that on the 1 to 5 controller cable. It red and it comes out of the harness in the other direction to the other plugs and its for a front light that came with the kit.

Great thanks! I will look into it. Any ideas why the speed is always set to zero when riding despite all the PAS levels and programming buttons working fine?! :)x <3

Does your motor have a speed sensor in it?

There's normally a setting in the LCD for the number of magnets in the speed sensor. Set it to zero if you don't have a speed sensor, otherwise 1 or 6 to get the correct speed. Zero will only show speed while the motor is turning.

It didn't make any difference so have contacted the Chinese seller on AE! They are looking into it had to do a video of the cabling in the controller box they will get an engineer to look at it tomorrow. If there is a solution I will share it here for anyone else in this predicament pickle! :p:)

What connector joins the motor cable to the controller? Can you show us the video? We can probably help more than the guy from Aliexpress, who is most likely a box shifter without any clue how the stuff works.

There's a spare white wite shown at 0:32, which looks like an unconnected speed sensor wire. You can check whether you have a speed sensor in the motor by measuring the voltage on it while you turn the motor BACKWARDS.

If the speed sensor is working, the voltage will either blip up to 5v once or six times per revolution, or it will be 5v and blip down to zero one or six times per revolution.

At 0:39, the main connector you can see has a white wire on the controller side, but nothing on the other side. If all the other wires come from the motor cable, and the spare white comes from the motor able, that's where it has to go. Interestingly, as always, that's the one connector you didn't show! Also, the lovely lady said that "the white wire is coming out of this one" but you didn't show which one.

Those LCDs often have a pair of wires (brown and white) for lights. I think that's what the white wire is for that's connected to brown and black. Do you have lights connected?

There is a black and brown wire going in. And a single white as shown with silicone around it coming out then that goes up to the display with the rest of the cables in a single cable. There is a loose white wire so maybe you are right. If I put the test meter positive probe on that where do I create the loop to get a reading with the black probe?

Look at the cable coming from the motor. Is there a white wire amongst the others? That's the speed signal wire.

00:44 That loose white wire does appear to be from the front wheel? But how do I connect that to something to make it work?

Fixed it!
P07: Motor Magnets Number (for Speed Test; Range: 1-100)
It was set to 1
So as it has walking assist at 3mph I used this as a benchmark. Then set the magnets to 100 and it started working ended up setting it to 149 which when pedals were maxed out was 15.5mph and 3.3mph walking assist exactly as set in the kmh setting for max speed. This is wilding but hey it works.
GN  ;) :D:D

You haven't connected the speed sensor, so the speed will go to zero when you're free-wheeling. I told you above about the connector that joins the motor thin wires to the controller. There appears to be a white wire on the controller side, but not the motor side. That white wire has probably fallen out because it wasn't clipped in properly. When connected, you set the number of magnets to 1 or 6.

Thats fine its limited to 15.5mph and not a problem. Where that white wire goes is beyond my pay grade. The speedo works when pedalling where I live is flat so I always have to pedal! And throttles in the UK are illegal apart from say Pedibal who get the bikes inspected. But even then they can only do 15.5mph ((you can pedal faster but I am old and knackered(!) hence the ebike)). If I wanted more I can just use an app on my phone or buy a separate speedo. But will never need it I am 60 and will never go off road. Just wanted it to work and show the speed. It does even if its a hack way to do it.
