What if.....?

Finding my (electric) wheels

I have just bought a Windsor for myself and a Salisbury for my wife, who has taken full advantage of the lovely weather this week by cycling the 3 miles uphill to work every day!

Please can I ask a question?

In the event of a rear wheel puncture (back end of the 2 bikes appears to be identical so the question applies to either) how do I get the back wheel out, as the power wires to the motor obviously prevent me from lifting the wheel clean out of the frame as I would with a normal cycle?

Or do I more or less leave the wheel in place, and just slip the tyre and tube out past the axle on the non wired side of the wheel, if you see what I mean?

Obviously, I sincerely hope that I will never have to tackle a rear puncture, but I would prefer to know what to do, just in case. Thank you.

Hopefully, to fix a puncture, you won't have to remove the wheel at all. I just remove one side of the tyre and pull the tube out where the puncture is to fix it.
If the puncture is really bad and you have to replace the tube, as you've figured out, you only have to lift the wheel clear of the drop-outs to get the tube out.
Only if you have do do some serious surgery on the back wheel do you need to unclip the cables and thread through more wire.

Thank you d8veh.

Hopefully I will never need to tackle this problem, but I would prefer to have a plan of action, just in case.....

Carry a few cable ties for putting it back together, especially by the spindle.
