January 24, 201610 yr I noticed the Bafang has a USB port that can be utilised for devices such as phone chargers and such. What do you use yours for? I was thinking maybe it could be utilised for powering some lights for my bike incase I ever need to travel on darker evenings, could you suggest any lights?
January 24, 201610 yr If it's a USB port true to USB standards, it will only have a 500 milliamp supply at 5 volts. That's just 2.5 watts, not much for lighting. However, if the battery manufacturer went outside of the USB specification which sometimes happens, a USB port physical connector is rated at 5 amps. At 5 volts that's 25 watts which could be useful with LEDs. .
January 24, 201610 yr In reference to flecc's reply, I think it uses only standard USB 500 mA supply at 5 volts. I read over on Endless Sphere that a couple of people have messed the battery BMS up, by plugging stuff into this port. Therefore, I personally wouldn't plug anything into it. January 25, 201610 yr I understand if you are looking to use a power feed for lighting on the latest generation of Bosch and Yamaha motors, there is a power feed couple that has to be enabled, and you can feed your lights (if the current power requirement) from there. (although you do refer to a Bafang.. I am not used to all the an acronyms and such for ebikes so If I miss understood just go ahead and ignore me)
January 25, 201610 yr (although you do refer to a Bafang.. I am not used to all the an acronyms and such for ebikes so If I miss understood just go ahead and ignore me) I hope no-one will ignore you James, that wouldn't be very nice. By way of information, Bafang is the manufacturer name of the motor in question. It refers to the Suzhou Bafang company of China. Their motors are often marked with the name 8 fun and sometimes referred to as that. (Eight is traditionally a lucky number in Chinese culture.) .
January 26, 201610 yr Are there any batteries that can also be used as a lesiure battery with inverters for operating low powered electrical devices?
