Miles Davis - suggest 'Kind of Blue' as an introduction.

Frank Zappa - suggest 'Hot Rats', it's about as gentle as he gets/got, after that I think his best stuff is in the live reccordings, particularly 'The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life'.

Chopin - arguably a jazz artist way ahead of his time. Suggest 'Nocturnes'.

Jazz is like Muesli, there's lots of different ways you can have it ;) .

Thanks.. it is a very enjoyable album on the first listen.
I'm also a very big Miles fan, particularly that era just before he decided to
take on electronic music. So many styles, eras, genres. So many Miles.

'In a silent way', would be another great Miles album... and then there's
'Sketches of Spain', which i've not played in a while...

From another direction with another spin on Cool, there's of course Stan Getz.
You might want to try his Jazz Samba album. Lyrical and mellow.

Ex semi-pro jazz musician here so, yes, I love jazz music.

Lots of good stuff on the UK scene at the moment. Check out plyers like Alan Barnes, Bruce Adams, Don Weller, John Scofield, Jim Mullen, Claire Martin, etc

My all time favourite is Django Reinhardt (hence my screen name).

Finding my (electric) wheels
Trio was a quartet

Saw Steely Dan on their 2007 'Heavy Rollers' tour, took the wife along and was treated to a Jazz support act called the 'Sam Yahel Organ Trio', the wife was not too impressed but I hung in there like grim death intrigued by the body count of 4 musicians making up a trio

Was one of them a drummer?:D The old joke being that a drummer is someone who hangs around with musicians :D :D
