What are the most budget-friendly e-bike options in the UK? Can you recommend any brands or local stores?

You don't say what you want it for, how and where you'll be riding it, and how heavy/fit you are.

Be especially careful with range estimates on any cheap ebikes. They are bad enough on expensive bikes, but VERY misleading on cheap ones which typically have very small batteries. They are usually 'up to' ranges; with lowest level of assist, light rider in perfect conditions, flat, good surface, fully pumped up types, etc. Real range might well be 1/3 stated range with moderate assist in realistic conditions;.

Want to really upset shop staff

When you see an advert in the window saying "Up to 50%/60% or 75% off"

Go in and ask to be shown the ones with 50%/60% or 75% off

If a bike states 45 miles and not "up to" ask them if they will guarantee that on the sales receipt.

Most budget friendly and best value for money probably would be DIY conversion. Prices of motors and batteries are somehow going down. I have never seen them so low before.

What do you think of some brands with motor like Ananda or Bafang? They are actually cheap.

Do you have a large Decathlon store near? Look, try, chat before buying there or anywhere else.

I like Ananda, but they sell OEM products only as far as I am aware, so not really easy to repair.

Bafang offers great products and good amount of spare parts. I wouldn't call their products cheap.

If one wants functional stuff that can be repaired then stay away from OEM stuuf and mid drives, with any OEM motor system one is tied to the seller ,
Woosh and Wisper are ok as they will keep spares as will other main stream EAPC only sellers. The main issue with spares will be your cheap ebay, Amazon, Argos or other retailers on the street or online who tbh know little about these bikes or have spares.

Bafang are a recognised large player in control sytems and motors, with their hub bikes one can always find a better control system by using a KT system.

If you are on a budget, check

PSW is my favorite supplier. I am talking about components used to convert bikes, not ready made e-bikes. Personally I find e-bikes available on the market overpriced and not a good value for money.

Woosh would be another place to check if you are looking for powerful legal motors, but prices are significantly higher.

off-road, mid drive can be fine
You asked for budget-friendly. What's going on. If you want a bike for a specific purpose, say what it is, or do you already have one in mind that you want to shill under the guise of a question?
