Hi
Being new to the electric bike, iwas wondering is it safe to ride a electric bike in the rain????.
If so as an added precaution what would i use to waterproof certain parts of the bike??.
so if anyone out there has any ideas iwould like to hear them.

Thanks to you all Bob

I have had my ebike for over 6 months now, and recently I took the cover of the wire / controller box (located under the battery - bottome of the frame). Dispite the rubber seal on the inside of the cover, water and grim had found it's way into the box. I have ridden in the rain (sometime, heavy) so I suppose its to be expected. Some members go to great lengths to seal the water out, while others don't seem to bother.
The biggest trouble (I can see) of sealing everything up is should water find it's way in, it cant get out
I'm sure other members will have their own views on this, but I for one will not be sealing mine up anymore then it is now.

Plug in cable joins of any sort do need to be well sealed, since water getting in causes corrosion and lost connections. Most bikes are well enough sealed from manufacture, but it's a well to look for any obvious exposed entry points.

Entry holes underneath items are not a problem as long as they are not exposed to wheel or road spray, and they make drain points for any moisture that does get in, so sealing those isn't always a good idea.
