Wan Lian Rear Hub Motor Axle

I have a Wan Lian brush type rear hub motor that has a stripped thread on the axle on the left hand side (I.e. the side where the wiring is threaded through the centre). Does anyone know whether the axle can be successfully pressed out of the stator and changed or of any other type of repair that is likely to be effective? Many thanks.

You can get it rethreaded at a competent bike shop
