Somebody local asked me to fix there 6 year old Volt Kensington that hadn't been used for about 4 years. It had a knackered battery in which one cell had leaked and dragged that group down to 0v. Details of the fix will be in another thread.
The surprise was that when I got it working, I found out that the throttle gives 4 mph walk assist without pedalling and maximum power up to 15 mph when pedalling. Also, the controller used current control, so that each pedal assist level gave a different power, not speed like most similar bikes give. In other words, it behaved exactly like my KT controller. Unfortunately, I didn't see this until I rode it back to the owner, so I didn't get a chance to look at the controller. The LCD was a volt branded one, nothing like any of the KT ones.
I guess it's time to go to some shows to try out the latest bikes to see how many others have this feature.
