Hi guys, as the title suggests, I'd like to fit an accurate voltmeter to my powacycle salisbury 24 volt system to better judge my range, can anyone recommend any one in particular.. Glyn

A simple two wired one off ebay will do, one that shows volts,% & a meter or get a cheaper one that just does voltage. Extend the wiring to fit it where you like, If no where to fit it make up a simple ali mount to fit under the steering tube top clamp fixing and mount it in a small project box.

A digital one, while riding, may prove to be unreadable, depending upon the circuit damping. As current drawn changes, the voltmeter will show a different voltage.
If you own a multi meter, tape it securely to the handlebars and try it out and see if its OK for you....
But you may need to pause drawing current, to allow a steady reading, or to wait till say you are going down hill, before you can take a valid measurement.
Proper and accurate SOC meters, are generally expensive. SOC means State Of Charge.
Something like this may possibly work, and its not too expensive. There are others on ebay for you to look at!
See here:-
Please note that I myself have never ever tried one of these, but it would be great if you find something that you can recommend to us all.
Best wishes.

The one I linked will be fine for the job and will give a very good indication of battery state when in use.

I use the same one that neal has recommended fitted to a bike battery charger to show the state of play, good bright backlight so you should have no trouble seeing it in daylight.

Looks like they're sold out atm vfr. You have to be careful when buying these though, often they only read up to 12v dc despite what they claim although I doubt that's deliberate.

With a 24 V system, you will have a huge range of options. When you go above 30V, (eg 36V packs) it tends to restrict your options.

These I've found to be quite good, quite cheap and already with a mount for your handlebars.
