Hi there the ebay person I bought this off on described I need a 48v 11.6ah nominal battery but doesn't answer when I've asked what's the maximum battery pack of a 48v I can use, I'm looking at a 48v 13ah an a 48v 15ah with no response. Anyone that has bought an used this exact one would appreciate all info an advice. Regards Lee

If I understood you correctly, you want a "LARGER" batter, one that will power your bike for longer, am I correct.

Batteries are measure in Amp Hours for the amount of power they store.

Just about any 48 volt battery, that can be physically carried by your bike, and either have, or made to have, the correct connectors, with the correct polarity, will do....

If you have the old battery still, maybe it can be re-celled by a local battery company (assuming the cells are defective), and if you are lucky, the case might be large enough for extra cell(s) for each "tier" of cells, to give more capacity for you.

If I have misunderstood you, please state more clearly what you are looking for.

What these sellers don't tell you is the actual price and specs that a really decent 48v battery will cost, the cheap batteries you will be looking at might see you get 12 -15 miles or so.

Yes it will be for more range, finally the bloke replied an says I can use a 13ah or 15ah. I do have a large frame an looking into either buying it already built but dont know who is a reputable seller that doesn't have a generic cheap Chinese brand batterys inside. If anyone can help with that? I'm looking into starting with a 15ah battery as I can comfortably fit that on my bottle holder space. I have seen a vruzend kit which looks so much easier to build a battery without welding . I am a handy man at building things an have a little electric knowledge an how much cheaper would it be to build myself an where I can get either samsung LG Santo etc batterys

Panasonic cells are not cheap, but really excellent.

Ideally for those types of kit you need 20a rated cells, LG HG2 , Sony VTC5/6 cells and not just great 10a cells.

I have this very Hub kit and have had it for 18 months.

 

I first went for an Ebay (built for me) 20ah square battery and put it in a rear mount bike box. Was a heavy brute - great power- 40 miles + on PAS at 250 watt. I disliked the combined hub and battery weight all on the rear as it made everything less stable and even tipped me over a couple of times.

 

So I ended up selling it and going for a fairly cheap (£215) Hailong 13Ah its probably not got Samsung or Panasonic in it however it gives me 35+ miles on one charge and have been using it for 3 months and very happy with it. So much so bought another for my second mid engine build.

In 250w mode then the cheap low power batteries will work fine, but I can't for the life of me see (barring) the cheap price why you would want to put a heavy 1 - 1.5kw hub in a rear wheel when a decent 250w - 500w 2 - 3kg geared hub will do the same job but better. If one was to use the bike in it's 1kw + mode you would see the short fall of the kit's.

Its all a learning curve and I see what you are saying Nealh. The 1000w rear hub was influenced by watching Youtube videos of folk zipping about. After initial use like this I find I am happy at the 250w level PAS. The other shortcoming apart from weight is being a bit harsh on initial PAS kick in. Saying that I have found it to be very reliable and enjoyable. And the other thing is having never been very keen on bikes It has converted me to a happy two wheel pedelec traveller.
