Following my visit to John/Grumpy (not that he is), just looks it .
Apologies John, couldn't help myself :p.

For a lighter easy use option for local or a shortish commute ride no battery building is required, John has a pair of 5ah 18v Dewalt XR batteries or might be clones ?
These are connected in series on a premade board from ebay, for safety I soldered a fuse in line for him today along with adding an XT90 so that ne now has compatibility with all his battery connections.

This seller sells boards for both makes of battery, to take 1 pair in series for 36v or two pairs in series then parallel for 36v.

One downside is that they aren't waterproof so for surface mounting dry weather riding only or all weather placed in a waterproof bag/pannier.

Hi, DeWalt now do 52volt batteries.

Interesting to see that on a bike.

They do but so expensive for 9ah 52v in that case better off with a regualar 36v battery.
