Hi all, I am a total novice when it comes to electrics, so I'm hoping someone can offer some advice! A brief intro....

I'm a full time mature student (37) doing a BSc and I commute to uni on an eMTB. The Ancheer MTB to be more specific. Anyway, the standard battery is a 36v 8ah one, and I could do with something that gives a little more power and range as it's a 14mile round trip, but closer to 18 if I need to do a bit of grocery shopping etc. However, I want to make sure that whatever I buy isn't going to fry my bike. Am I right in thinking that I have to buy a 36v battery, but that I can increase ah to say 16ah and it won't cause problems, but should increase my range? Or can I buy a more powerful battery (eg 48v) to also get a bit more power? Here's a photo of my controller specs if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Good news for you TM, you have a dual voltage controller. You can use any 36v or 48v battery with any amount of Ah as this only means more range, the greater the capacity.
Going 48v will give you 33% more torque and speed if the bike isn't restricted.

Ok that's great thank you! Can you suggest any good online shops to buy a battery from at the budget-end of the market?

For budget batteries you pay twice in the long run.
