Tyres - going backwards!

Just had 3 punctures on 3 consecutive days. Decided to buy some expensive new tyres and I struggled to fit them in the blazing sun yesterday. Just got it all sorted and realised I'd fitted the damn things on backwards!

Too infuriated to take it all off yesterday, but should I sort it sooner rather than later. What is the significance of the direction of travel arrow? Is it just that dirt and water will tend to be chucked up at me or is there something more worrying?

Any advice gratefully received.

Ermintrude and useless owner!

Mainly self clearing of water and mud. At the moment your tread will be trying to gather them in, so the adhesion won't be as good in wet or muddy conditions. Therefore it's best to reverse them as soon as possible and meanwhile take it easy in very wet conditions.

Be aware some tyres are marked to go one way round on the front and the other on the back, just to make it more complicated. :)

I didn't even know that there was a wrong and right way. When I first read the post I thought you meant inside out. Now that would be silly!

Can anyone tell me if this is true for Marathon Plus tyres, and how do you tell?

THanks

Well I guess I have a 50:50 chance that I got it right. With two tyres fitted it's pretty likely that I got (at least) one wrong.....

Doh!

This is because on conventional two wheelers, the rear wheel is driving the machine forward and the front wheel is holding it back with the brakes - not at the same time, of course, but you get the picture.

Which way round they should be fitted on a front hub e-bike I don't know.

With some tyres its more of an issue than others.

I fitted a Marathon plus on the wrong way round the other day, and realised as soon as I'd finshed - but it is going to have to stay that way for a while, as its not a problem with that tread pattern.
