If you have pinch points bikes should have own pass point to the right. Cycling is the future after all
You mean the left? A pass point on the right would have you crossing traffic.

Bad:-

Good:-

Surprise as to which country each is is.

Force cyclists to register their bikes and get a licence before using the roads

With a BBC documentary sticking its oar into the bike v car debate Ashley Winston says he’d like to see cyclists adhering to the same standards forced on motorists… By ashley.winston 05/12/2012 17:06

I wouldn't mind registration as long as it was free or proportional - i.e. £20 for combined registration and third party insurance cover for a year.

Not sure that is going to make any difference to the general conduct of cyclists even if it could be policed, which I doubt, I suspect if such plans were made law the only result would be that it reduces the number of cyclists on the road, or massive demos/riots all over the country.

Force the cyclist to register before using the roads? How is this going to help anyone.

Given the choice I would not use the roads at all. The density of traffic and the mentality of many motorists is not compatible with a slow moving human or electric powered vehicle.

I am lucky in that I can cycle to work, 11 out of my 12 mile trip being on cycle lanes but for those who do not have this luxury, the transport system is a failure.

What we need is to concentrate on the design and implementation of sufficient cycle paths to promote more cycling. Get people out of their cars and off the road. Thereby allowing more road space to be allocated to cycling areas.

Seems simple but then why would the government wish to promote a healthy lifestyle and a reduction if fossil fuel usage? The answer, they cannot afford to take this option. As such, Catch 22

Ach, that's the usual knee-jerk boll ocks from a bunch of jerkoffs.

We've got something similar in telford, but they run the cyclpath along the edge of the road by marking it in red, and then up a slope off the road at the chicanes, so that in that photo, they'd go behind the bollards. The problem is the slight step on the slope which causes your front wheel to bounce off causing you tp crash, so I just go through the chicanes and take my chance with the cars.
