I’ve got Specialized Trigger Sport tyres on my Turbo Vado 4. Generally they are ok but when I hit a patch of mud they are really scary...in fact I nearly end up in the Union Canal last week when I hit a patch of mud on the tow path! Looking for an alternative that might give me a bit more confidence when this happens , I’ve thought about the a Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tour but not sure if they would be any better? My riding is on roads, cycle paths, gravel tracks and paths.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Lack a sideways grip in mud is the Marathon Plus's weakest point. I notice it most when riding off road on a path with sideways slope.

My wife's currently off cycling with a broken knee cap after an almost 0mph tumble on the tandem. That could possibly have been averted with different tyres. Better with my starting off a slightly wider curve on that corner which had an awkward combination of broken dropped kerb edge hidden by leaves, mud and a tad of ice. Our more recent tyres are the MP Tour, that one that slipped was a regular MP.

I am using Specialized Pathfinder Pro 700 x 38 on my Specialized Creo gravel bike and they are very sure footed.
