TSDZ2 pinion gear cover friction

Few people have reported wear on pinion gear cover caused by chain ring.
This time it has worn away up to the point of crack formation.
I have been advised to replace the whole cover, but eventually it will lead to same outcome though.
Another solution is to apply some JB weld for plastics.
On the other hand getting away with some silicone adhesive on the other side would be safer just in case something falls off and gets in to the gears compared to epoxy.

Can't think of anything better than a correct size silicone seal from the inside and a 5 mil UHMWPE tape from the outside. Just needs to be secured sufficiently. Making a separate plate attached using the same screws holding the plastic wire cover would be too finicky and unpredictable due to constricted space, etc.

Actually 0.4 mm stainless steel plate would be better since 5 mil UHMWPE tape is still easily penetrated by anything sharp enough. Should be good enough on the top of stainless steel plate to reduce possible friction only.
Might simplify the first version of the stainless steel plate at some point.

Probably will gonna glue some 0.45mm thick cap on it made out of a electrolytic capacitor, since after swapping out one of the half-step gear chainrings there is a bigger gap now.
Using steel kinda seems too dangerous close to mechanical parts with unpredictable tolerances.
Silicone adhesive should be strong enough since it's more flexible compared to JB weld plastic Bonder which isn't made to work with polypropylene anyway

I would have used UV glue, which is as strong as welding. You can glue a broken spoke together with it.

Doesn't UV glue needs to be visible to light to harden? Silicone still seems the best option since the plastic cover is constantly bending upon tightening and undoing the three screws. If the surface is rough enough then it should have some adhesion + I made some flange at the bottom of the aluminium cap which will be held against by the plastic wire cover.

I notice on mine that there is a fair amount of chainring wobble. This wobble tends to reduce once a small amount of pressure is put on the pedals. If the bike is used with a throttle and the rider doesn't pedal, the spragclutch ( that carries the large gear and chainring) remains unlocked and loose, and I am inclined to think that this may be responsible for some of this wobble. (The axle also has some play). Anyhow, just a thought!
