I've got a great bike with FS and I wanted to put a mid drive on. After tons of research, I discover, The TSDZ2 needs a clearance diameter of 65mm clearance for the round housing. The best i can gather, for a BBS02, that distance is 59mm? Any help here? Spacers available? or is this just have to be a rear hub? fullsizeoutput_902.jpegBI5xzXz9Qviz5Dk6U4lVUQ.jpgRg4YL9yLQ4iE50F+sHKzeA.jpg

After a quick google is it similar with the kona fs of the time which shared likeness with a carrera banshee both of which will take a tsdz2 or bbso2 with ease please post a pic [side view]

if the motor sits flush to the black metal, I dont see how a tdsz2 could fit, if the clearance is 65mm. The best !'ll get is 55mm. That blue print of the BBS02 i posted has a diameter of 117.x mm which leaves a clearance minimum of 58mm. I'd hate to do all that work and be foiled by 3mm. Heres a video of a TDSZ2 that just made it. I think i'm in the class of "sorry, out of luck". @ 7:25 he's shows how fis barely clears. and a graffic showing the 65mm hurdle.

If you think it'll fit i'd love to hear why. This is a way bigger rabbit hole than i expected haha. Thx for the help

Speaking as a bbs02 owner, that chain stay clearance does look marginal, even allowing for the use of spacers.

As you suggest, a safer bet would be a geared rear hub - don’t make the mistake that this is a compromise, because Kw for kw it’s just as good. I’d personally go that route, and focus your energies on figuring out how to fit a downtube battery
