Hi, I have tried a search but have not found any specific information about the TSDZ2 crank motor. I am looking to fit a conversion kit to my ICE recumbent trike. At the moment I have two e-bikes both fitted with geared hub motors . Both of these work very well and one strength is that they ride very well with out electrical power. The result is that I can ride the bikes unpowered on the flat only using the motor for headwinds or climbs. In the past I have borrowed a Bosch gen 2 equipped ebike which was awful to ride without power.

Does anyone have experience of riding a TSDZ2 equipped bike without power and is it a ride that you are happy to do or is it a last ditch exercise?

Lastly can anyone recommend any twenty inch rear wheel hub motors that are available here in the UK ?

best wishes

Simon

Tsdz2 ride very well unpowered in the correct gear, I have used mine on flatish and slight inclines without issues and that is towing a trailer as well. It compares much the same as my G370 front hub unpowered and both are so much better to ride unassisted then the BBS01 to which I found to be very hard and tiring to do so.
TSdz gear ratio is 41.8, my G370 is 14.6 two stage nylon gears.

Put both up against a BBS01 with 21.9 gearing and they trounce the BBS for unassisted riding if it is needed.

20" wheel need a motor winding of 300 or 328rpm for good speed up to 15/16mph, one could go lower for mighty torque bur speed would barely hit the low 10's.
For a hub only one will have to try ebay otherwise China stores/shops are by far the best option.

#Nealh Many thanks for your reply. Its good to know that the TSDZ2 is useful without power. I shall probably give one a try.
