Hi Folks,

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question.

Is it possible to run the Q100H motor with only a throttle, I.e. no PAS or speed sensor.

Cheers,

Storapa

yes. The bike is more responsive too.

Brilliant.

Any recommendations on the controller? I was going to use the. S06S. Will this still be suitable?

As a motorcyclist, I feel that a simple throttle will feel more natural.

BMS recommend the S06 (s or p), which will make it run at 15 amps. You could probably modify the controller a little for a few extra amps.

The next step up is the S09 , which IIRC is about 20 - 22a. That may be too much, but others will be better placed to comment on that.

If you are average weight/fitness and don't have monstrous hills, you should find 15amps about right.

I don't believe that a Q100 will work with a S09P. They're sensorless, and Q100s don't run very well sensorless.

Storapa. Get a pedal sensor even if you think you wont use it. They only cost 60p, and you'll probably find that you prefer it to the throttle.

S06S should work well.

A word of warning – it seems the S06S does not work with all variants of the Q100 motor.

I recently purchased a Q100CST (328) with the intention of using it with the S06S. However, when bench testing it I found it would not run properly with this controller. It was ok at slow speed but at higher speeds it ran very roughly, sometimes stopping. It seemed to be a timing problem.

I then tried the motor with a KU65 and a S12S, both were fine.

As I don't have another Q100 motor also I tried the S06S with a 328 Q85 and that appeared to be fine as well. I've no explanation.

I've got another problem with this motor now, but I'll save that for another thread.

I found the same with a S06P and a 328 rpm Q100CST. The KU65 works with the 328 rpm Q100s.
