Whilst unpacking a recent delivery of an bike with throttle my wife inadvertently cut through the throttle cable. I now need to rejoin the two ends. The outer cable has 3 small insulated wires within (red, white and black). The guy at Maplin said I could join the two cable ends together in a single crimp. Being rather ignorant on such matters I thought I would check on here if that was ok. To the uneducated it seems odd to have 3 separately insulated wires all joined together (in a single crimp) where they connect up with the other end of the cable. Thanks in advance for advice you can give.

You definitely don't want to crimp them all together. Absolutely sure on that.
I would probably twist, solder, then heat shrink sleeve each core, then the whole lot.
