The CTC York Cycle Rally is happening once more after been abandoned a few years ago.
http://www.yorkrally.org/ In the past this was a always a big event, but perhaps more for the "traditional" cyclist

I am curious to know what electric bike stuff, if any, there might be at this show? Trade stands perhaps?

I don't think there was any e-stuff in the past events. Peter Eland, editor of Velovision magazine, is based at York and the magazine reported extensively on the event. From memory he didn't mention any e-stuff, despite his interest in that as well.

Traditional is right though, they even had high wheeler (penny-farthing) races etc!

The Electric Transport Shop in York is the only ebike business in the trade stands list.

Publicity officer Peter Eland is the publisher of one of the ebike magazines, although last I heard he was trying to get rid of it.

As has been mentioned I'm volunteering as the publicity officer for this event.
  • It's now being run by an independent group of volunteers so it's no longer a CTC event - it's just the York Rally.
  • This is indeed the first event since 2012 - we've started from scratch and a zero bank account to revive it. Seemed a shame to let it die after 70 years - it started in 1945.
  • Plenty going on, old and new alike. Full activities list here.
  • I've just updated the trade show exhibitor list but as was correctly pointed out, the only e-bike exhibitor confirmed so far is the local branch of The Electric Transport Shop! More would be most welcome - details are here for any potential exhibitors.
And re Electric Bike Magazine, I've sold it to Stone Leisure Ltd, who are just about to publish Issue 10 (they have the subscriber list of course!) and they will be producing it bimonthly thereafter. They'll also be increasing distribution. Any queries, feel free to contact them on 0208 302 6069. The new editor is Tony Scudder. More details e.g. here. There'll be quite a bit of content from me in Issue 10 and some more in Issue 11...

It was scrapped because of bad weather and subsequent poor attendance as I recall. I used to go, with friends, most years. It was always worth looking around the trade stands in the tents. People used to go for the tyres in particular, so it must have been worth a visit for that alone. Then they decided to charge to enter the tents just to look at stuff, at which point I decided, probably with many other tight Yorkshire folk, to give it a miss!

I see it's free entry this year - I'll be there!
