Just to say I thought that was lovely last night to see the great man score in his first game for the Gunners following his return to the club on a loan arrangement. Very impressive and all the more so when one considers he's what now....75 years old?

It just reaffirms an age-old truth; form is temporary but class is permanent!

Too many Arsenal supporters on this forum!!!!!!!!
Disclaimer!

I am absolutely not an Arsenal supporter, in fact I support no team and never have done in my life.

In fact the only time I ever attended a league game in my life was when I was dragged to one under protest as a kid. It entailed a couple of hours of tedium watching Bournemouth and some other team, never again.

Concerning football, and indeed most sport, is there any area of life where what is said by the incumbents is so empty and meaningless?

I've just heard one football manager on radio saying he "needs to turn a microscopic telescope on the club"!

Another, speaking of the old days of limited facilities said a local headmaster allowed his club "to use the school pitches for training in exchange for some kids". The direction the kids were traded in wasn't specified.

Blimey! The mind boggles.
