I heard the radio series first time around (actually, I missed ep1, but got it on the repeat) and kept a cassette collection of all the repeated episodes for years afterwards. They were all unique, deviating from the script wildly at times and oftentimes being written on the hoof during the show.
Anyway, having made the delightful discovery of this in the 1979 -ish era, I was looking forward immensely to the TV series. You can imagine my disappointment at that great pile of steaming camel dung.
Conversely, I found the film much better than the series, as enough time had elapsed and it wasn't being produced by a group of BBC Luvvies with the fatal BBC Sci-Fi touch of death.

There is on YouTube the full BBC TV series. Compare Episode one of the radio with the TV, there is little in it. Same words and tone, but for TV they would be moving around the Vogon ship not being stationary.

I owe it to myself to never view that travesty again, so will refrain from picking up on your kind offer, thanks all the same.

I was working in a hotel in the mid 80s when the crew of the TV series came in for lunch. Made my week.
