I hope the creator manages to get a detox placement soon, preferably before any further "designs". :D

He seems intent on financing his habit well into the future.

Seems a shame to waste a good concept on such a wacky design. The idea of a hybrid motorcycle is a good one, but that style wouldn't seem to suit the potential market, I would have thought.

I hate to say it, but a hybrid scooter might well be more popular. I suspect that the market for such a machine might be quite large, as it would be seen as a cleaner alternative to a pure petrol engined one, and would also be even easier to drive.

I know that it's this latter point that has helped the Prius sell very well. An electric motor transmission, with no clutch or variable ratio gearbox, makes for an incredibly simple and pleasurable driving experience. This is just the sort of characteristic that would appeal to people who wouldn't otherwise switch to two wheels, I think. Certainly I'm no fan of auto transmission cars, but just love the massive torque and smooth acceleration that an electric motor gives.

Hybrid scooters already exist on the road in China apparently, according to a previous posting in here by Carl in a thread almost a year ago from Electric Mike, but they are nothing like as sophisticated as the Prius system.

Here's the thread

Scroll down the page on Mike's link to see Hybrid A and Hybrid B.

See also Carl's comments.

Have a look et the ebike pi on the web minus the engine. You would think that if they were designing something so radically different to what currently exists that the performance would be top notch. The figures quoted show it will travel approx 30miles per charge...which is 30 US miles....about 26 of are longer version ones.....or have i got that the wrong way round ? Either way I think they have missed the boat by not concentrating on achieving 40-50 miles plus. You are paying a lot of money for a whacky design that doesn't deliver.

I am pretty sure that US miles and UK miles are the same. You may be thinking of gallons, the US version being smaller.

Any mile would seem much longer riding that Pi thing though. :(
