We have 4kwh solar panels on a south facing roof.

About 6 months ago we bought the Tesla Powerwall 2 battery, we also have a Nissan Leaf EV car.

Not able to run entirely off the grid, but this month have been around 35% self sufficient , been a drier and brighter month than usual.

you dont take the cells out the packs tho you just wire them up and use the software/ custom hardware to use them as is

Very interesting find SW.
I only have 1.75Kw on my small roof so probably not going to get there.
I would imagine that the regs requirements, in this country, would be on the horrendous/make it almost impossible side of things.

These electric car batteries are generally warrantied to last 8 years to 75% of capacity when moderately used, so 10 years to a little lower capacity, say 70%, or 15 years to 55% capacity is possible.

Even early lithum batteries in satellites have lasted their expected10 years with a daily discharge and charge cycle without any sign of problems.

The secrets are not stressing them near to their upper and lower charge level limits and moderate discharge rates, quite easy to do with these very large batteries.

Our problem with e-bikes is that we do the opposite. We use quite small batteries at high discharge rates, and both near fully charged and near fully discharged often.
