Hello I have recently bought a second hand giant MTB with a Swytch kit already fitted. I have to say I am very impressed with the performance of the Swytch but with one exception which I'm hoping somebody can offer advice. After a few miles of everything working perfectly satisfactorily the power seems to go off and then come back on again even when I'm going very slow.
Any advice would be much appreciated
The effects described suggest a battery issue known as voltage sag, this can be atrributed to an aging /failing battery .
Voltage sag is when as it say's the voltage sags/drops .
Sag can be more noticable on hills using higher power.
To help one needs to tell us the battery voltage reading hot off the charger and when it has been left to sit for a few hours.
Don't tell us the charger led turns green , we need to know a proper voltage reading from a meter. Typically a 36v system should be 41.5v - 42v.
As @Nealh says, the proble could be down to an aging battery suffering 'voltage sag' and this phenomenon will be more noticeable the higher the level of assist used.
Knowing this and if say you're riding as PAS-3 or higher and experience the cut-out, drop to PAS-1 and see if the situation improves. If it does, this reinforces the view that you have a 'voltage sag' problem for which a new battery is going to be required.
#3 as Matt say's could also be down to small battery Ah /Wh capacity.Aftera few miles (how many is a few ?) sag could simply be down to low battery voltage and more so if used in a higher PAS mode.
The higher the PAS mode then the highe rthe current draw required , highe rcurrent draw causes more voltage sag esp with the KT current control controllers used.
