I keep reading that displays are paired to controllers. Can you change one king meter for a newer king meter? I see the new ones look really nice and have usb out on them.

I am not sure.
We have different programs to load into the different King Meter LCDs.
For the kits, we have the program for the KM J-LCD that is well trusted for many years and the newer KM 529 LCD.

Have you any with USB charging ?
I did email yesterday about a Lu error on my display. Told it was low battery in the display. Tried 2 new ones today but still showing same Lu on start up.
Any ideas if it could be a fault? Or could I have been unlucky to get 2 dud batteries in the pack I bought this morning?

I'll put a CR3022 in the post for you Tuesday when we get back to work.
You can check the voltage of the coin cell, it's not a reliable method because it should really be measured with a load but may give an idea. It should read 3.2V.

it keeps the time - the clock you see at the top right corner.
When the LCD gets switched on, it uses the power from the battery and not the coin cell.

no, but it's annoying when the clock is wrong.
