Supposedly "KT" controller on amazon has missing connector

Buyers beware.... This controller I picked up on amazon is labeled as a KT36/48ZWSRL-ff01A.

I've never seen a KT without a wire for the speed sensor. This controller has 5 wires in the hall connector, 6th white wire missing.

Is this normal? Anyone else seen this? Am I just SOL for being able to get a speed reading with the motor disengaged with this wire missing?

As @Nealh mentions in the other thread it is most likely for LED displays that have PAS levels but no speed read out, they are mostly not used displays any more on newer ebikes but there is some left in the wild. Mostly EU/UK I would imagine where the individual goes no faster than normal bike speed just assisted so really no need for a speed read out.

One reason why one should study the pics and the detail of controllers to see thye are compatible. I for one only ever buy direct from China sources , amazon is the devil and not a place I use.

I bought a controller from Amazon based on the spec given and the cables clearly shown on the image but when I received it the controller it was different. In the end I was fully refunded and got to keep the controller so was happy anyway after going back and forth with the supplier. I think where the supplier had bought the controller the design had changed and he/she hadn't updated the Amazon page for that product. So I ended up with the later re-designed product which lost the throttle function I wanted.

I bought it from Amazon as they hadn't updated the price there and it was more expensive from ebay and aliexpress (now that we pay VAT).

Even if I'm not going to use the component straight away I now check the item I receive is exactly as described with no changes anywhere.
