Hello everyone,

Brand new to the site, I recently purchased a Stow-E-Way Folding Electric Bike from Tredz.co.uk (Link). I live in the Lakes in the UK, we see a lot of rain and now were heading into the winter months I am concerned about water ingress into the battery unit and would like to ask if anyone has any experience with this particular battery unit and also, if anyone could recommend a waterproof battery cover for this oddly shaped battery? Thank You!

It'll likely be fine in moderate rain, but if you're worried put a plastic bag over it. Keep the battery indoors (and the bike too if possible) where it's warm so any residual moisture dries out after being used in the wet.

The fitted covers you sometimes see for e-bike batteries are mostly intended to keep them warm rather than dry as Li-Ion performs less well in very cold weather.

Your battery looks quite awkward to cover completely. Two cheapo hi-viz waterproof rucksack covers are secured with velcro over my rackmounted battery - one cover isn't waterproof enough, not for hours in the rain.

I've resorted to pulling a shopping bag over the saddle to keep rain off the battery. Temporary fix to keep them both dry. Providing your battery is behind the seatpost that is.

Battery connections are likely to be the weak points for rain. Make sure anything you do to keep rain out will not trap in any rain that does penetrate.
