I have had my 4 week old Brompton Nano stolen from my car in Ealing. It is a titanium bike in Kew Green. It was stolen without battery or bag because the thief obviously didnt realise it was electric when they stole it and left the battery & bag behind (which are no longer in my car). If you come across this bike I would be very grateful if you could let me know. There are only about 50 of these bikes in the UK and I am not sure there is another in Kew Green.

Many thanks

Francis

I'm very sorry to hear this Francis, I hope it gets recovered, since the electric aspect will make it more awkward to dispose of without attention.

To all Brompton owners though, please take extra special precautions with your bikes.

In urban areas these are a prized target for thieves, and no more so than in London. One publicly known owner in London has had three Bromptons stolen, and others have suffered double thefts of these.

A bit obvious, perhaps, but it would be a good idea to keep an eye on eBay. An acquaintance recovered a stolen microlight this way a while ago, and managed to get the thief arrested when he arranged to go and pick it up after "buying" it back.

Sorry to hear about this Francis. I assume the bike is insured under your home contents or seperate bike insurance. If that is the case it might be better not to get it back, loose your excess and get a new one! That way you will have a spare battery, charger and bag.
Then keep a look out for somebody trying to buy a battery and charger for a Brompton.

someone told me that police have tracking aerials for a certain type of chips... What kind of tracking options exist nowadays?
