Step through bike battery position

I'm looking at the Wisper 705se, Juicy dutch classic and woosh Santana 3 bikes.

I'm really struggling between the three of them, I have never ridden an e bike before and unfortunately with shops being sold out I cannot go and test drive any either. Maybe I should just wait but I am an impatient person.....

Anyway one of the things that i would like to ask is about the battery position, the Wisper and Woosh are on the panier and the Juicy is down the back of the seat post. Has anyone had experience with batteries in both positions and is there any benefits in either?

Should I be looking to purchase one from a local dealer or one which is sold by local dealers? I have found Wisper and Juicy are sold pretty close by but not Woosh…. I live in the North West between Liverpool and Manchester.

Also the warranty's differ between the three, should I take this into consideration?

If anyone can give me any more guidance I really would appreciate it. I am open to suggestions of other bikes also.

My purchase will be made via the cyclescheme, I have £1000 voucher but I am willing to top up to £100. Not sure if using this voucher limits my options but I have found a local dealer who accepts that scheme.

Thanks

Sandra

I have a Wisper 705se with the pannier mounted battery.
I like the way that the rack is designed to take the battery, there are some "arms" which I put a small pump and toolkit on. And it may just be me, but the battery seems to be more protected in its little cage!
It comes with a luggage strap which slots into special holes on the rack, the biggest I have carried is a crate of Budweiser!

When I got mine on the cycle scheme it was from a company called Cycle Solutions based in Swansea. They shipped it out to me with more than enough packaging.
I did have a problem with the front brakes which they didn't respond to (Maybe because of Corona Virus) but David (Wisper's MD) regularly checks this forum. He and the team are sending me the replacement parts.
It was Wisper's reputation on this site that made my mind up when purchasing.

Hope that helps :)

there are two reasons why a luggage rack battery may be preferable to behind the seat post battery.
1. the chainstays are shorter, making the bike nimbler
2. the bottom bracket is unencumbered by the battery.
Typically, the width of the bottom bracket shell is 68mm and the battery base is about 12cm wide.
If you have the battery behind the seat post, the cranks need to clear the battery, you end up having a very long bottom bracket spindle which cannot use cartridge bearings.
This is the old Woosh 2012 Santana with battery behind the seat post:

Battery behind the SP is dated and means a LWB which as pointed out makes handling worse, you won't be compromised by a rear rack battery unless you use it for shopping as well. The extra weight of both will handle a bit ungainly.

Thank you everyone.

Looks like it's down to two now so suspension is what I am thinking about.

One has a suspension fork and seat and the other doesn't...

if you are heavy or have arthritis then suspension is a good help for your back and wrists.

If only pottering about then go for comfort and some suspension.
