This is a site which mainly concerns itself with road legal eapc's. You may be better posting your questions in the speed pedelec section as you may get a fair few sarcastic or downright insulting comments here as your bike is fundamentaly an uninsured, untaxed and unregistered motorbike.

On speed pedelec subforum it still will be an uninsured, untaxed and unregistered motorbike. I guess it is good it is broken.

I wonder what pedals are for on that thing?

I feel sorry that John is in this predicament. He sounds pretty sad that his pride and joy is broken, and I remember as a young lad feeling very bad about my broken down motorbike when the crankshaft snapped.

BUT - that thing has about 15 horse power. It is absolutely an illegal, unregistered, probably dangerous, uninsured, unlicensed motorcycle. If he is caught riding it, and such a machine WILL attract attention, he will be in for a serious number of points on his driving license, and if he doesn't have one yet, they will be put on his license when he gets one.

Although he is sad about it being broken, it will probably save him from a world of trouble. Insurance is expensive enough for young men without having about 9 points on a driving license and he will one day have a driving license and he will be wanting to insure whatever vehicle is his then pride and joy.

My advice to John is that he sell that thing as fast as possible and either get an ordinary 15 mph ebike, or a motorcycle. He can almost for sure get a 125cc bike for less than he paid for that thing. He can do his CBT, tax it for about £22 and insure it. It will also be a lot safer with motorcycle suspension, wheels, tyres and brakes that that other machine and it will likely be much more reliable. I've got an old 125 I will be selling soon for about £800. Just needs an mot and it will walk that test. The only reason it isn't mot'd is that it has been sorned for the last four years and is sitting in the garage.

Honda CG125. Not pretty - amateur spray paint, Genuine 17000 miles. Year 2000. 11 hp. £800. 125mpg. Cruises easily at 50 mph or 60 if you are unkind and mechanically unsympathetic.

Ridden at a sensible speed and oil changed every 1000 miles it will do a hundred thousand miles. I've ridden it about 6500 miles. It never ever let me down.

Big washing machine! Mine plugs into a 13a socket, so nearer 3kw.
and most of that is probably for the heater. I don't know how much power a washing machine motor takes at full spin.

It’s not a Stealth Bomber. It’s a bike put together using bits and pieces from eBay.

And the 30H error is probably a motor hall sensor problem.

If you take the motor apart to replace the hall sensors be careful when you put it back together. The magnets are very powerful and you will lose the tips of your fingers if they get trapped when it snaps back together.
