Hi
I have a Trek bike with a Juicybike kit which has performed well until recently
A new battery(charged for about 6 hrs and showing green on charger) however only results in battery indicator on bike showing only the red button with no response on throttle. I am wondering whether I may have a problem other than the battery
Does anyone have any ideas please?
Thanks
Ian

Sorry-couldn't see how to post on Technical thread!

It sounds like you may have an issue with your charger. Take your battery to an ebike shop and see if they have a charger to check it with. In the mean time, try hooking the charger back onto the battery and wiggling all the connections. If the charger's light flickers from red to green there may be a broken wire.

Don't go by battery indicators and green lights. measure the voltage with a voltmeter.

Use the voltmeter to check your charger jack first. It should be very close to 42v,

Charge the battery to full, take the charger jack out and put your voltmeter probes straight on the battery terminals. 41.5v to 42v shows a very healthy battery. Anything less than 41v shows problems starting. The further below 41v, the worse the problem.

This simple test shows whether your battery is OK.

Hi Ian
I realise you decided to buy your new battery from another supplier but we may still be able to help you - just give our technical support a call.

Update: It seems the battery purchased was only 24 volts, not the 36v it should have been, after contacting Ian today.

I updated mine a year ago and it's never communicated with my computer since.

Hi All
Thanks very much for all your input. Helpful Lee of Juicy Bikes explained that nothing would happen unless I had the correct voltage battery!
Hopefully this will resolve the issue
Regards
Ian
