Fully prepared to be abused and have the urine extracted but whatever the wife asks I obey. She is finding it very hard, because of the weight to use her pre owned e bike. She saw a young girl riding a push bike with stabilisers and asked could I fit similar on her e bike until she got used to it. Well could I?

No. When you have stabilisers your turn the bars right to go right. Without them, you turn the bars left to go right, so she would have to re-train her brain when changing from one to the other, and probably crash in the meantime.

I know this is a very expensive suggestion, but in case you can afford it:

I was down the local electric bike shop recently. A couple came in and wanted a bike for her (middle aged). She hadn't been on a bike for years, but she was persuaded to try a range of bukes. She seemed OK on them, but she wasn't happy. Finally, she tried the £3100 Gocycle, which is small, very light and has completely automatic gears. It's also very docile in the lower power settings. She loved it, bought it and went away happy.

on a 20kg plus bike they will be worse than useless as will just end up bending and might cause damage to the frame or fail while riding and end up on ur ass.

If you schroll down the stabilizers, in the link provided by LeighPing, find the ones from Argos @£109. They are also available from missioncycles.com. I fitted a set for an elderly gentleman and he was very pleased once he got use to them. Yes, they do make the riding experience very different. Almost trike like. They were of great quality and not likely to bend. You could also raise the wheels as the rider gained confidence until such time they were removed altogether. Depending on the bike, fitting could be tricky and I would recommend having your dealer fit them. They in no way interfered with the gears and motor on the Freego they were fitted to.

Hope this helps,

]http://www.ez-trainer.com/?s=adult / These are the answer, Le Cyclo in Marseilles stock them. The adult stabilisers you mention are unsafe, if one side goes down even a small depression or over a bump the bike will tip over. Lethal on adverse cambers or soft verges. The EZ ones flex and work a treat.
