Hi
My sram spark still lights the leds on recharge, but fails and wont pull up hills.
Is this the battery? (its between 3 and 4 yrs old)
I have regularly charged the battery, but not used the bike at all!
Can the battery be "recelled" or adapted as the sram item is a tad dear!
any help or advice very welcome
thanks

The 16.8 volt battery is lithium and these usually only last about two years in daily use, or a bit longer with intermittent use, so yours is almost certainly at end of life. Recelling is rarely done on lithium batteries which are far more complicated than other types, containing electronic management as well.

The following company claim to be able to recell, but most types use 3.7 volt cells. Your battery uses the rare 4.2 volt type in series to give it's 16.8 volts, so if you contact them, please stress that to avoid a wrong result with low voltage of 14.8. That cell difference may result in them being unable to do the job, and in any case, they stress their recelling operation is expensive:

sparc battery

i have a sparc battery but no longer use the bike in electric mode. if you wish to pay the postage you can have it. the battery is not the lithium type but the older Nimh sort.

That's a generous offer Chess. Silver Ghost will need to get the right charger for it though, his present charger won't do, and the bike will perform a bit slower since the NiMh battery is a lower voltage.

i have the charger too. at the end (2 months ago) the battery took me about 14 miles on a charge using mixed full and econ settings, fair hills.
