what does altering the max motor current do in the mission control app. if I set it to 50 instead of 100 should it be less powerful ?

There's "Support" and "Peak Power". Peak Power will limit the maximum output of the motor while support will make it easier to obtain peak power, or not, based on your leg's power input, depending on where you set it, from 0-100%.
