Where can i get a spare magnet for the Bosch spokey things? Mine came off yesterday and after ages scrambling about in the lane on way home I found it somehow... now am in paranoid mood I need to rest easy and have a spare on me but haven't a clue how to get a spare.. (Will contact electrifyingcycles probably later on but thought I would ask general populace and not hassle them all the time!)

You can buy a cheap cycle computer on Ebay for about £2. You can chuck the computer and just nick the magnet, or you can go down to Tesco and get one of theirs for about £7.50, or you can ride into Caernarfon this weekend, and I'll give you one or two for nothing as I have about 20.

You did well to find your one.

Dave, I have tried this before, the Bosch magnet is about 5x as powerful as the normal ones you get with computers. I have tried several other magnets and they do not work. Don't believe me - Try it yourself.

Wissy - Why not try a google search for - Bosch eBike Magnet.

Check out what comes at the top! - http://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/bosch-wheel-magnet

You're right. There are some cycle computers that use ceramic magnets, which are not so strong. Most these days use neodymium, like mine. They're very strong. Even if you have the weak type, you can add a Neodymium magnet to it. It'll stick by magnetism. This is very useful if you can't get a cycle computer sensor close enough to the magnet, like when you put it on the back wheel. The increased magnetism allows a bigger gap. You can tell what type of magnet you have by the colour. Neodymium is shiny silver. Ceramic is grey. The ones below are N52, which is about as strong as you can get.

These magnets are really useful for holding things in place. Uses are only limited by your imagination.

If Wissy can try one of mine, then we have the definitive answer.

After reading this thread I expect there are a few Bosch owners - like me - who will be giving their magnet fixing screw a tweak this weekend.

If Dave's solution does not work I am sure we have them in stock. I will double check.

Rather than over tightening and damaging the spoke I put a dab of thread lock on mine, a small amount of arialdite rapid would also do the job ;)

I am confusing everybody it seems. Have ordered bosch spare from Martin's site. Have got those cute disc type magnets at home (I am strange) .. Out of curiosity, how do people think such disc batteries would sfit onto a spoke!?!

Wissy,

No confusion, your magnet has been dispatched, it has gone royal mail as I know you are not always around to sign for courier.

Also as for the AWOL comment, you replied back on the wrong thread missy. Didnt want to confuse things more by replying there.. :)
