that hub motored bikes can't climb hills without overheating or stalling....

Really?

I don't think so:p:D
The beach below is Newport, north Pembroke coast. We'd parked the van just outside, then ridden part or the Gwyn valley before coming up and over Mynydd Caragog. A climb of about 220 metres ove about 1.5 miles. Then down to lunch in the town before going out to the beach for ice cream.
Gotta tell ya, lifes tough in West Wales:D

As you can see, our bikes are not configured to be light weight. The BPM and the Ezee are awesome. On the climb leading to this spot there were some really stiff gradients leading to some wheel scrub on looser bits. But this is why we carry the handlebar boxes containing tool kits, lights, wallet, 'phone, gloves etc etc. Puts a bit of weight over the wheel and helps the sprung/unsprung weight ratio on the forks.

Maybe an eZee rear kit would be the answer to issue of traction...apparently there are some going cheap on eBay;)

£360 cheap?
They're at the high end of kits, around £1000 new I believe. It's one of the best motors around both for power and longevity, and many lithium batteries alone cost more than that £360.

Shame they are only in 20" rim as they also come with a Marathon plus, though not hard to lace into 26 or 28" rim.
How many kits do you have John as I am seriously considering one for future use.

Only 2 available in my eBay listings, 1 x 20" motor wheel with 250 RPM motor and 1 x 26" with 200 RPM motor which are surplus to my requirements.

That is just a mole hill. Any ride stats?
Hi Eddie,
Firstly:p
Secondly, all on road, beautiful wooded valley to moorland, sheep clad. A cloudless blue sky with just a few con trails westward bound. Glad I took the day off. Is that what you meant?:)
Seriously though, I realise the Alps it ain't. But my point here is that these tough, reliable, practically bullet proof motors are capable of getting a leisure cycling old git, and his girl, around the undulating west Wales topography with no real drama.
Guess I've just set myself up as a bit of an advocate for front hub motors, sooo I'll just nimbly duck back behind the parapit and go ride a few more pimples;)

You are kidding Ben, surely you and your good lady must have a same level of stamina as Chris Froome to be able to climb a mole hill with a hub motored bike:eek:
On the other hand could it not be argued that to be super fit and healthy when riding an electric bike is cheating:rolleyes:
