I cycled the 9.5 miles from work to home yesterday for the first time. (Car in for MOT and e-bike build awaiting parts).

It's not rained here for months. It didn't rain all day yesterday either until I cycled home, and it stopped as soon as I arrived. Not just spots either, proper 'can't see through my glasses' downpour. Looked like I'd swum home.

Today I've driven in. Not a cloud in the sky.
What are the chances :(

Managed to average 16.3mph though (all leg power) which I was mightily pleased with.

I wear glasses and it makes riding in the rain very unpleasant. What I do is wear a cap with a long peak and keep my head down so that it shields my glasses as far as possible.

Cycling in the rain is one of those experiences which my father used to describe (with a grin) as 'character forming'.

There must be something wrong with me... I love cycling in the rain. Especially on cycle tracks when there isn't a soul in sight.

Must be something to do with coming from Ireland :)

16.3 mph is a good avg. But, as always, it does depend on the wind direction and speed (these are mandatory columns on my cycle log spreadsheet. If you have a google account I'd be delighted to share it with you ;)

I had a similar thing the other day i assessed the sky before i set off for work, blue sky it was. 4 minutes later it bloody poured down for the rest of the way and best of it was i was assessing whether i needed to put my water proof trousers on but i didnt as it was clear skys but the wind was hard so i must of blew the cluds over quicker. I got to work and i felt like i had ridden through a car wash.

I understand your issues with glasess too as i wear them but i have a small peak on my helmet so i just keep head down and get on with it but it does limit your vision and at one point i felt it was quite dangerous
