it is - i test rode one of those as my intro to e-bikes as i'm a bit of a smart fan ;)

good points - great looking bike, fast, very comfortable to ride with great geometry, perfectly silent, no mess, good range of spares and options.
bad points - range is optimistic (although i think its designed to run on the flat so maybe not), no gears!, very heavy, painful to peddle without motor, very expensive (not sure i fancy subsidising those mercedes showrooms ;) )

summary - if i was a city commuter, i think i'd buy one of these, but the lack of gears scares me (and overpriced does too) I think smart have tried to move their city transport concept on, rather than build an electric bike

(the brabus version has a 500w motor and is uber-cool stealth black)

I enjoyed my ride on the Smart very much, and it is the perfect bike for town and gentle country...i found 3 gears adequate, though not perfect.

I personally prefer the Grace Easy though...which is the same bike underneath the Smart styling in all but the frame shape and weight(5kgs less)-and battery capacity (also less)

A great bike to treat yourself with if you have a few bob spare...

That frame design is always going to be heavy, if you lose the diamond frame you have to add material to keep it stiff. Trying to fix something that isn't broken for the sake of aesthetics, a bad idea.
