Does anyone know what the smallest in frame battery is? As in physical size.its for a full suspension frame with the rear shock upright next to the seat post.

Pictures helpful to understand what you want to do.

First impression from what you wrote is to electrify an existing full suspension mountain bike and conceal a battery within the existing frame. That is not going to work, but it might not be what you mean!

Very roughly, in frame 500Wh battery from shimano is 400mm long and 85mm wide and high. Frames are built specially when internal mounting is intended with a large front down tube.

Your first impression is correct, and I've seen it done, was just thinking smallest possible to make it easier.ah well....back to the drawing board.

To be worth the effort, it needs to work well as an eBike, which means a battery of enough volts and also capable of enough amps, and the size follows from that.

I'm guessing that rear suspension is causing battery location issues?

I'm just looking at sellers battery measurements and wondered if there was a brand or seller that were known for physically smaller ones.

Before deciding on the smallest battery available one has to know the needs of the controller, so the max current it will draw. Then a battery needs a continuous current draw rating some 25% or more above the controller rating.
A properly small battery will then have to be bespoke made as it is highly unlikely one will find any capable decent ones from a generic source.
The lightest battery will be a 24v 7s 1p one with 7 cells, which cells will depend on the above info supplied but invariably would be top notch 20/30a rated ones. Range would be limited to < 7 miles at lowest power setting.

The important factor is the specs of whether the battery is actually capable of supplying the current continuously.
For the physical size one would have to go bespoke.

So if I buy a 48v 17ah battery to fit on the downtube, there all going to be the same physical size?
you can have a custom batt made in different shapes like say a triangle but the number of cells will be the same.

my bosch 36v pack has 40 cells and looks like this inside.

Pretty much, though not what the suggested thread heading suggests.
48v 17ah will be far from the smallest.

Regarding #1 you have confused two of us by saying 'smallest in frame in frame battery'. The question should have been smallest triangle frame battery.

Again the answer still is how far one wants to ride as it appears you are after longer range.
