Good evening, we have bought a second hand bike which is a import ( all wrote in Chinese) you can hold it back on full throttle so something not right. It had the lights on top of the headlight but the right hand light doesn't light up, I know it works as it flickers when it's turned on and off. You can set off up a slight incline but it just shows down on throttle. You can pedal it on assist but it shouldgo up. Is there any checks we can do? Thanks for your help. Also new battery's put on had slightly helped but not much. 20140623_102632.jpg20140623_102609.jpg

Sounds like a battery problem to me. You say you have put new batteries in, but what type?

Pictures would help.

If you have a multimeter, check the the total voltage and let us know.

The Old ones failed a battery test so that's why we bought new ones. Is there a way too test the voltage getting to the rear hub? Anyone know what wire is what. Thanks again for your help

Can't find anything about those batteries. Can you post a picture please.

My guess is that you have the wrong batteries.

You need a voltmeter.

First, you need to check the voltage of each battery while they're connected.

Next, you need to follow the wire from the motor. It'll go to the controller, which is a little aluminium box with wires coming out of it. Tell us how many wires are connected to the motor.

Sorry for the late reply. We have two wires going to the driven hub a blue + and a brown -. There is 38.5 volts out of batteries and 37.5 volts at hub wires. Thanks again for your help.

The voltage seems a little low. After charging, I'd expect about 40v or more. Could you charge them up and check again.
