I spotted this Cannondale Bad Boy 8 in a bike shop window. First time I have ever seen a bike with a one-sided front fork. An easy design to repair a puntured tyre? I guess there must be some weight advantage too? Will this be the preferred bicycle design of the future?

IMHO I doubt it. I don't see any advantage for fixing punctures and the weight saving will be minimal. A two legged fork will be stronger and much more durable.

All the following are single sided at both ends.

British designer Mike Burrows has designed the Halfway folder for the world's largest bike manufacturer Giant:

and there's his 8 freight which is in widespread commercial use, including in London:

He also designed the "Ratcatcher" recumbent, thats a cargo box as well as streamlining on the back:

Here's Mike racing a Ratcatcher on this link.

and there's also the GoCycle from another British designer, Richard Thorpe:

There's no weight advantage, often the opposite to give enough strength, it's mainly for wheel, tyre and tube change convenience. I doubt it will ever be mainstream.
