Went to the cycle show trade day. Looked at and test rode a few ebikes, had previously hired one during a holiday a couple of years ago following a car shunt which damaged my left leg. Husband (keen cycle tourer) has been suggesting one ever since as it is the first and only time I have been able to match him for speed and distance. Long story short, these people were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, put up with my dithering and adjusted things here and there so I was happy with the geometry, bike was well constructed and rode giving superior smoothness and sense of solidity and reliability and I ended up buying one after years of denouncing electric bikes as cheating. And now I'm looking forward to riding it.

I believe that you are one of many thousands each year, who denounce e-bikes, but without trying them out!
I am pleased for you that you are now convinced otherwise, you have made a good decision!
Enjoy!

I saw you there, but I didn't say hello. You can't go wrong with a Wisper. I'm sure that you'll be happy with it.

I'm sure I will, my "problem" has been that I regarded cycling as a way to get fit and lose weight, so any form of assistance seemed counterproductive and proudly announcing I had just done a ( x many miles) ride would be falsifying my efforts. I have owned and ridden motorcycles for years and see them as very different to manually powered bicycles. I've just got to decide where ebikes sit in my personal effort chart.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised how much fitness and weight does alter riding an ebike, As for Wisper as mentioned before you cant go wrong, I have had a 905se for 2 years and its been excellent and certainly kept me riding after a heart attack 6 months ago, so much so that my wife who had a brain injury 4 years ago is now riding it nearly every day. I read somewhere, in the last 12 months, that e-bike users are generlally fitter than "normal bike" riders. Simply because they use their e-bikes more, and are far less likely to jump in the car to go down to the shops!!
Plus they always have a breeze from behind, never a "head wind!"
I just found this:-

As this study shows, average trip distance of e-bike and bicycle trips among e-bikers is significantly higher than bicycle trips among cyclists. Equally, e-bikers' daily travel distance by e-bike was also significantly longer than daily cycling distance in cyclists.Aug 9, 2019
Can you really get fit on an electric bike?
How Do Fitness Levels of E-Bikers Compare to Those Who Ride Regular?
Many people believe e-bikes give the easy way out. How does that really affect your fitness?

I hope these links reassure you positively. :) :) :)
