Should it work in the wet?

I went to work on my Synergie Mistral this morning in heavy drissel - all was well.

When I got to work I covered battery/saddle area with plastic cover.

It rained medium to hard all day.

When I switched it on to come home the LEds shone brightly but no power to the throttle or via either "assist" modes.
Is this usual?

It's probably water in the controller box Bernard, that often losing all power.

It can take quite a while to dry out, but if you can get the bike into a warm dry room that will speed it up. If you have a dehumidifier that you can leave running in a closed room with the bike, even better.

When it eventually shows signs of running, it might be noisy and erratic at first, but that will clear as the drying completes.

Looks like you might need a bike cover in future for those wet parked days.

Flecc,

Thank you for such a quick reply.
What a relief!
I thought that it had either broken or that from now on I could only use it in the dry.
I had sprayed all the wires, etc with WD40 but that obviously wasn't good enough waterproofing.

I guess the controller box is at the bottom of the frame (beneath the base of the battery)?

I will dry the bike out and in future only keep it parked in the rain if there is a cover on it.

Many thanks from a much relieved,
Bernard

Kal,

I was getting towards the levers as being the seat of the problem
as each time I managed to get the hub turning then used a brake
the whole system stopped and refused to restart for some time.

So:
Keep levers (and bike generally) as dry as possible
Remove connectors as a "running repair".

Many thanks for your help.

Hi Invicta,

Glad to hear you got the damp problem sorted. I only use my Mistral in the dry, so never had that trouble myself. However, if I do get caught in a shower I always dry the bike off when I get home.

Also..

Invicta, I just read your review..

I noticed you said "Rechange after a weeks use (2 LEDs unlit)"

It is advised to keep the battery charge topped up. Sellers quote "when you get the bike back from a run, simply plug the bike into the charger until fully charged again."
