Shimano STEPS system - vapourware ?

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone had heard anything of Shimanos STEPS system. It sounded pretty cool back in June 2010, shimano make some top gear and are one of the bigeest component makers after all.

But I've not heard so much as a whisper since then.....

anyone in the know ?
