Can anyone help me set up my new Imax b6. (Ping 36v 10a/h lifepo4) I have connected the imax to a 12v psu from an old computer and its powered up but I can't work out how to set it up properly to single charge my Ping battery cells. I connected to cell number 1 and point B on the bms. I set it charging after it detected what I thought was my cell at 3.6v . I kept a carefull eye on it and notice the read out voltage is wrong according to my Fluke multi when read across charging leads its actually lower than it says on screen. After reading with the meter I noticed the on screen voltage of Imax went over 3.8v very briefly so I switched it off.
My cells will charge to 3.65v at a Max of 3.8v charging voltage. Can someone tell me what I should be doing please ?

Just recorded this to help you

Don't worry that it isn't a Imax- the menu on this accucel 6 is identical. (I have both btw)

Cheers

sorry KirstinS your video will not run on my computer. I have the manual that came with the imax and its not much help. I can only find life once inthe menu of the imax and its 3.3v . The output voltage is also different to the screen with my fluke multi.

Ahhh, might there be some confusion over nominal voltage and max voltage ?

Lifepo4 is 3.3v nominal and max of 3.65v .

So whilst you choose 3.3v f for Lifepo4 thats nominal. The charge voltage will be the max voltage of 3.65v

With other lithium chemistry it is 4.2v max (or charge ) voltage and 3.7v nominal

Hope that helps

Thanks for your help. I am using the life part of menu .The on screen voltage is 3.6 so its never going to charge to 3.65 . I believe Ping manages a higher capacity because their balancers are efficient enough to protect cells but Ping told me to charge at 37v or 38v to reach capacity when I borrowed a linear power supply. I will see what I get after charge but my guess is around 3.4

I have improved things alot. There is a Calibration mode hidden in the Imax Menu. If you press the dec and start buttons together then switch on or connect your power supply hold buttons until after bleep you are in Calibration.
I Calibrated with a known voltage battery and increased imax to match. Im now getting much nearer my full charge.
Thanks for your help KirstinS.
