My old controller on my Tonaro Bighit is broken. Can I use a sinwave or a sensorless controller from BMS battery?

Yes as long as you don't mind chanhing over a few connectors. If you don't already have a throttle, get a plain half throttle. With the S06S, you'll also need a LCD (LCD3 is pretty cool) and a wheel speed sensor. You might as well get a PAS sensor too to guaratee compatibility.

Thanks d8veh.I forgot to mention I was planning running it at 48volt and about 20 amp.I was thinking about using S09P complete controller kit with throttle. And speed sensor if compatible. But I wont have any motor problems when running sensorless?

S09P will be perfect. The same applies to the other bits.

It takes a it of getting used to. You set the power level with the controller display and the speed with the Nuvinci, so your Nuvinci gear-changer becomes your throttle. Set the controller to "Torque simulation" mode, which is current control. This'll make more sense when you try it.

Edit: I meant set the controller to normal "speed control".

The fact that the Nuvinci becomes the throttle, is only when used alongside a controller with Torque simulation mode, such as the S09P, or would it be the same with another, standard controller?

I ask because for us, center-Europeans, throttle is a forbidden fruit. So, torque sensors or eventually Nuvincis, which could act legally similar to a throttle, are ideas quite interesting to us.

I know I would know the answer if I tried, but I do not know anybody owning a Nuvinci, either N360 or N171 (which is very cheap http://www.utahtrikes.com/PROD-11617994.html ).
